Southern Govs meet in Ogun State, to discuss regional, national affairs

Governors from the country’s southern region are meeting in Abeokuta, the Ogun State capital where issues of national interest will be discussed.

The meeting started around 1:15 p.m. and is holding at the presidential Lodge in the Ogun state capital

Governors of Lagos State and Chairman of the South-West Governors’ Forum Babajide Sanwo-olu alongside other governors from Abia, Ekiti, Oyo, Edo, Osun, and deputy governors of Imo, Delta, are also at the meeting.

They were received by the governor of Ogun State Dapo Abiodun and other state officials.

I am presently in Abeokuta, Ogun State, for a meeting with fellow governors from the Southern Governors Forum to discuss issues impacting our region and Nigeria as a whole.

The governors and some of the deputy governors present took their turn to inspect the guard of honour mounted by men of the Nigeria police.

Although the agenda for the meeting is yet to be communicated, it may be connected with the issues of security in the region and the contentious minimum wage among others.

The Southern Governors Forum is the body for the 17 governors from the South-West, South-South, and South-East geopolitical zones of the country.
