The attention of Osun State Council of the Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC) has been drawn to a delusional and misleading report purportedly issued by a non-existent group of people called Osun Workers Union (OWU). It is crystal clear that these said elements are not legally or constitutionally recognized as an affiliate of the two labour centres in Nigeria, NLC and TUC. So it is surprisingly amazing for them to be tagged as a representative of the workers.
It is also surprising that we can’t recollect OWU been a part of the tripartite committee that negotiated the last new National Minimum Wage, thus this is a bold evidence that the group consists of beer parlour jesters.
I’ll advise this hungry and thirsty attention seekers to pick up forms and contest legally for positions during the State Delegate Conferences of their primary unions that is affiliated to the NLC or TUC to test their popularity among the genuine Osun State Workers rather than forcing fallacious narratives on hardworking and law abiding citizenry.
In contrast to their false claims which aims to discredit the talk-and-do Governor, Senator (Dr.) Ademola Jackson Nurudeen Adeleke, the Governor has not broken his promises to the active workforce, retirees and by extension the general populace. I wish to confirm that the government has not at any point in time defaulted in its financial responsibility to the workforce and retirees.
It is also worthy of note that Governor Adeleke has been paying Half Salary Arrears on a monthly basis to workers who retired under the Contributory Pension Scheme who are yet to receive their bonds. This he did of his own volition to keep the souls and bodies of this category of workers alive. Mr Governor has paid all outstanding cooperative deductions owed by APC Government. Also, the Asiwaju himself has approved the workers promotion for year 2024.
Finally, I urge Osun State Workers to disregard the fabrications of these nameless group as all they have said remains filament of their weird imagination and their paymasters. This is expected as the state move gradually to another electioneering cycle, more and more of such false claims should be expected. Osun State can’t forget so soon that propaganda is their stock of trade. I want to assure the workers that the Minimum Wage Committee will start work immediately the tables are released from the National Wages, Income and Salary Commission.
I appeal to Mr. Governor to continue on with his good gestures towards Osun Workers and the populace at large. His Excellency should stay focused and not be distracted by these unscrupulous fake elements. I wish to confirm once again the unalloyed support of the entire Workforce in Osun State and to state without mincing words that as long as he continues to put smiles on our faces, nothing will ever make us look back. Osun Workers are very pleased and at home with his administration.
Long Live NLC
Long Live Osun State
Long Live Nigeria
