Payment of palliatives: Osun workers extol Governor Adeleke, pledge total support

Osun State workers have eulogized the State Governor, Senator Ademola Adeleke for his support to the labour family in the state, saying they have been the beneficiaries of his good governance as evidenced by the welfare packages for Osun State Workers.

In a release jointly signed by the NLC, TUC and JNC Chairmen, they said the support Osun workers enjoy under the current administration is unprecedented.

Part of the statement reads, “We bring Your Excellency fraternal greetings from the Joint Labour Movement in Osun State comprising; Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC), Trade Union Congress (TUC) and Joint National Public Service Negotiating Council (JNPSNC).

“Your Excellency Sir, we appreciate your unprecedented support to the labour family and of course, the entire Workforce in the State. We have been a beneficiary of your good governance as evidenced by the too numerous to mention welfare packages for Osun State Workers. This kind gesture of yours, has continued to endear your love in our hearts. We will not fail to mention the timely payments of salaries and allowances, prompt payment of pension, defrayment of accumulated salary arrears owed by the previous administration, cash backing of previously earned promotions, timely conduct of promotions to deserving workers as at when due since your assumption of office, full payment of cooperative deduction arrears, payment of pensions, just to mention but a few.

“We are glad to inform workers of Osun State and the entire populace that Mr. Governor is not unconcerned about the hardship mitigating against his workers and has taken great steps to cushion the effects. Amongst which are;

** Approved work leave to ease the plight of the workers.

** Approval of the continuation of Palliative (Wage Award) for two months, which starts from this September, 2024 and an agreement on consequential adjustments of the new National Minimum Wage is expected to be reached before the end of the two months.

“Furthermore, the Labour Movement in the State is not relenting on all efforts to get the best for the Workers in relation to the implementation of the new National Minimum Wage, hence, diligent work is ongoing behind the scenes. Also, any moment from now, the inauguration of the new National Minimum Wage Consequential Adjustment Committee in the state will be done.

“All these strides of success cannot be achieved if Mr Gentleman, Samuel Aina, the Osun State HoS has not allowed us to lean on his shoulder. Osun Workers are grateful to our Gentleman Head of Service too.”
