The Elegbedi of Egbedi in Osun State, Oba Muideen Azeez, alongside four others, were on Thursday held in Ife correctional centre over failure to meet bail condition in a case of alleged arson, destruction of farm and crops worth N200m.
The monarch, along with Akibu Abioye, Yisa Akolapi, Rasidi Ayandiran and Sarafadeen Abioye were docked before Justice Kudirat Akano of Osun High Court sitting in Ede.
They were docked on 29 counts of arson, destruction of farmland, illegal possession of firearms and robbery and were granted bail in the sum of N5million and two sureties each who must be a level 16 civil servants and owners of landed property with the state.
They were all driven away around 2:10pm by officers of the correctional centre after failing to meet the deadline for the perfection of their bail.
Meanwhile, one of the four witnesses called during Thursday’s hearing, Mustafa Waheed, told the court that he was attacked by the monarch with a Cutlass after destroying his farmland in Iloba in the presence of security operatives.
Mr Abiodun Badiora, from the state Ministry of Justice, had announced an appearance for the prosecution, while Mr Bukola Atobatele appeared for the defence.
Justice Kudirat Akano adjourned the case till October 16 for continuation of hearing.
