The Enugu State government has confirmed a cholera outbreak in the state, saying 10 fatalities linked to the disease have been recorded.
This is contained in a memo signed by Samuel Egwuonwu, the Director of Medical Services, on behalf of the state’s commissioner for health.

The memo read, “I am directed to notify you of an outbreak of Cholera disease in Enugu State. There are reports of so many cases, out of which about 10 people might have died from it.
“The state ministry of health and partners have started making moves to contain this situation.”
It urged healthcare providers and the public to maintain a high index of suspicion for cases presenting with acute diarrhoea, abdominal cramps, and vomiting.
The memo further advised individuals to implement precautionary measures by enhancing infection prevention and control protocols and to report any suspected cases promptly.
