Hon. Yakubu Ahmed-BK, Kebbi State Commissioner for Information and Culture has said that the incessant travelling by His Excellency, Comrade Dr Nasir Idris was not for personal aggrandisement but for the good of the entire state.
Addressing a press conference in Birnin Kebbi, the commissioner said the governor embarked on several journeys to bring positive development to the state.
Ahmed-BK was reacting to some insinuations leveled against his principal that he travels a lot.
Citing an example of Koko-Dabai-Zuru road, the commissioner said, without constant follow up by the governor, the road which is a federal project, wouldn’t have been revoked.
“To be candid, Kebbi people are very happy, especially those from Zuru Emirate, because the revocation of the contract now gave the Kebbi State Government the opportunity to execute the contract.
“The state government is now going to takeover the contract, execute it to specification and within the stipulated period for the good of our people,” he said.
He said the road project had been lingering for many years without any progress, adding that the previous contractor was able to construct only about 10 kilometers since the commencement of the project in 2021.
The commissioner also said that the governor travelled to Indonesia which resulted in partnership between the Indonesian Government and Kebbi State Government on boosting livestock production.
“Our Veterinary Doctors were recently trained in Indonesia on Artificial Insemination and the government of Indonesia is going to build a centre here in Kebbi for the training of veterinarians to serve not only Kebbi but also some neighbouring states in Northwest.
“All these achievements are as a result of His Excellency’s travelling. These are very few, we have many other good examples.
“However, these accusations will not derail our leader from doing what is good for the good people of Kebbi State,” he noted.
