The Speaker of Borno State House of Assembly, Abdulkarim Lawan has said that the N270 billion budget has captured critical sectors of the local economy.
According to him, there were increased reconstructions and rehabilitation of Boko Haram destroyed public structures in the 12-year insurgency.
Lawan spoke yesterday (Tuesday), at his Maiduguri residence on this year’s budget increase of N1.7 billion, before Governor Babagana Zulum signed it into law.
He said that the passing and eventual signing of the appropriation bill; was based on the performance of last year’s budget of N268 billion.
“Last year’s budget was rated high in the State’s ministries, departments and agencies (MDAs),” noting that the execution of projects in various sectors were not less than 60 per cent.
He attributed the budget performances to the execution of projects in agriculture, education and health sectors.
Continued; “This is my 10th time of passing annual budgets for signing of Governors into law,” adding that he will continue to maintain the confidence reposed in him.
