The North-East Business Forum bought the presidential form for former Vice President Atiku Abubakar on Thursday.
This is coming few hours the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) commenced sales of nomination and expression of interest form
While the party set the presidential form at N40 million, the governorship form was set at N21 million.
Alhaji Dalhatu Funakaya, chairman NEBF, presented the form to Atiku at his Abuja home and revealed they pleaded with Atiku in November last year to join the presidential race and promised to foot the cost for his nomination form.
According to him, they kept their end of the bargain and are hopeful that the former Vice President will formally launch his candidacy for the 2023 presidential election.
After receiving the nomination form, Atiku appealed for unity to address the country’s numerous difficulties, saying, “The challenges before us are historical; our unity is threatened, our economy is in a state of disarray, and our security is a disaster.”
“This is why, in order to overcome these difficulties, we must work together. The issues we face are greater than our ethnic and religious divides, he said.
If elected president in 2023, he has promised to offer all sections of the country a sense of belonging.
This is the second time supporters of the former vice president have purchased presidential nomination forms, the first being in 2019.
