Mali: Army Repels Attacks, Neutralizes More Than 10 Terrorists

On Sunday, three military camps of the Malian Armed Forces (FAMa) were targeted by terrorist attacks

According to reports by Bamako.com, the information is confirmed by a press release from the General Staff of the Armies which specifies that very early this Sunday, April 24 2022 around 5:00 a.m., armed terrorist groups in desperate actions used Kamikaze vehicles packed with explosives to attack these rights-of-way. 

These are the Army’s Amadoun Balobo Maïga Camp in Sevaré (Mopti) and the FAMa Camps in Niono and Bapho (Markala). On all three attacks, the FAMa retaliated vigorously, routing the attackers, specifies the Army. This also reassures that the situation is under control, and that the FAMa are combing the target sectors and the security arrangements are reinforced. 

According to the press release from the General Staff, the provisional assessments of these attacks show six (06) dead at Camp de Sevaré mainly due to the collapse of the police station, and 15 injured. On the enemy side, there are 11 killed including the Kamikaze, 02 AK-47s, motorola phones and recovered military equipment. At Bapho Camp, the FAMa deplore one injured and 01 slightly damaged helicopter. As well as in Niono where they recorded four injured and 02 damaged vehicles. 

Calm reigns over the three attacked camps. The soldiers on a war footing prepare the search. Combat and surveillance helicopters fly over the areas to guide the ground tracking of terrorists. 

The General Staff reassures the public opinion that these desperate actions of the armed groups will in no way undermine the determination of the Malian soldiers to continue their operations to secure people and property as well as the return of peace and tranquility. throughout the national territory.
