Nigerian Chambers of Commerce Dispute Resolution Center (NCC-DRC) as part of its quest to promote and support amicable settlement of commercial disputes, provide mentorship to upcoming ADR enthusiasts, enhance knowledge sharing, and promote research, is set to launch “The Prince Adetokunbo Kayode SAN National Inter-University Moot Arbitration Competition” for Nigerian Law Students in collaboration with the Law Student’s Association of Nigeria (LAWSAN).
The NCC-DRC therefore calls for indication of interest to all law faculties in Nigeria. Law faculties are to submit their notices of indication of interest to firstname.lastname@example.org on or before December 1, 2022.
The Registrar General- Aisha Ado Abdullahi, in a meeting with the President of Law Student’s Association of Nigeria, Michael Arinze on 26th November 2022 where the modalities and details of the collaboration were discussed, noted that the goal of the Baixakis Competition is to foster the study of commercial law and arbitration for effective resolution of disputes, train law leaders of tomorrow in methods of alternative dispute resolution and offer law students the opportunity to experience and appreciate this area of legal practice right from school.
The priced competition, which would be fully virtual, will feature brief writing and rounds of mock arbitration trial, to end with a final round which will produce the winners. Crackeado
It is believed that the Competition will challenge students to engage in comparative research of legal standards at domestic and international levels, and also develop their advocacy skills (written and oral) on cutting-edge questions in emerging and hot areas of Alternative Dispute Resolution.
