Ogun community where flood sweeps away students annually

Every year in Grace Valley Estate, an Ogun State community, floods sweep away children whenever it rains. Witnesses disclose that at least nine pupils have died due to the flood.

A resident, Happiness Ogwe, narrated how the flood carried a young boy wearing a school uniform while he was returning from school.

The brother of the victim said when he heard that the flood had carried another student, he just said it usually happens, unknown to him that the victim was his brother.

When he couldn’t find his brother at home and at the church, he went to the place where the incident happened and a woman told him that the person that fell into the canal was his younger brother, Prince.

The victim’s uncle identified the place as Estate Bus Stop, Abule-Ojo Fourth Gate where the incident usually occurs.

A resident also disclosed that they started experiencing the flood in 2005 and they have called on the state governor to come to their aid.
