Nigeria Mourns as Gospel Icon Taiwo Adegbodu of Adegbodu Twins Passes On

The Nigerian gospel music community has been thrown into mourning following the death of Taiwo Adegbodu, one half of the renowned gospel duo, Adegbodu Twins.

The news of his passing was announced on Sunday via the duo’s official Facebook page.

The post, believed to have been written by his twin brother and longtime music partner, Kehinde Adegbodu, conveyed deep sorrow and shock over the loss.

In the emotional tribute, Kehinde expressed anguish over his brother’s sudden departure, describing the pain as overwhelming.

“TAIWO, why will you leave me and your kids without notification? My heart is bleeding. Lord, how do you want me to cope without him? God, why? This is too much for me to bear!!!” the post read.

Since the announcement, tributes have poured in across social media platforms, with fans, fellow gospel artistes and church leaders paying homage to the late singer’s life and ministry.

Many described him as a devoted evangelist whose songs strengthened faith and offered spiritual encouragement to countless households.

As of the time of filing this report, the cause of his death had not been disclosed.

The Adegbodu Twins, comprising Amos Taiwo and Samuel Kehinde Adegbodu, began their musical journey in 1974 and rose to prominence within the Yoruba gospel music genre.

Over the decades, the duo became known for their distinctive harmonies and steadfast commitment to spreading the Christian message through music.

Taiwo Adegbodu’s death marks a significant loss to Nigeria’s gospel music industry and to the many listeners whose lives were touched by the enduring legacy of the Adegbodu Twins.
