It is both disturbing and shameful that leaders and members of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Osun State have chosen to mock the suffering of the very people they once sought to govern. Reports across various credible platforms confirm that these individuals are openly celebrating the illegal withholding of local government allocations to Osun State by the Federal Government since February 2025.
This was contained in a release by a non-governmental group Peoples’ Voice Movement, signed by the group secretary Oyintiloye Johnson, on Saturday.
The statement reads further;
What kind of leadership rejoices when the lifeline of grassroots governance is blocked? What level of inhumanity makes one dance on the economic frustration of their own people? Only a party disconnected from the pain and pulse of the masses could celebrate such retrogression. These APC leaders are nothing short of animals in human skin rejoicing while the people groan.
Yet, to their utter embarrassment and disappointment, Osun State continues to progress under the visionary and people-centered leadership of Governor Ademola Nurudeen Jackson Adeleke. Despite the setback caused by the denial of council funds, salaries of workers are being paid promptly, developmental projects are ongoing across the state, and confidence in governance is at an all-time high.
It is important to remind the people that it was the APC through its National Secretary, Ajibola Basiru that shamelessly called for a state of emergency in Osun shortly after their kangaroo court ruling aimed at truncating the February 2025 local government election. This desperate move exposed the APC as the originators of the current crisis in Osun State. They cannot now feign concern for the people when their actions were clearly designed to sabotage the state’s development.
Osun people must be vigilant. The same APC leaders who celebrated our collective discomfort have now begun to roam the state, seeking to deceive our people ahead of the 2026 gubernatorial election. They do not deserve our sympathy, nor our votes.
Instead, we must rally behind Governor Ademola Adeleke, the only leader who has demonstrated the courage, competence, and compassion needed to move Osun forward. His government has shown resilience in the face of adversity and has worked tirelessly to ensure that the rights and interests of Osun people are not trampled upon.
Let us keep hope alive. The legal process is underway to resolve the issues surrounding the illegal withholding of local government funds, and Osun will prevail. The people’s governor is not resting he is working day and night to protect the destiny of our dear state.
Together, we shall rise above this moment, and under the continuous leadership of Governor Ademola Adeleke beyond 2026, Osun shall reach even greater heights.
