●Says Governor on the Path to Winning Second Term in Office
A socio-political group, Osun Democrats for Democracy (ODD) has commended Governor Ademola Adeleke for resigning from the Peoples Democratic Party(PDP), citing factionalisation, leadership crisis and the risk of double nomination.
In a statement signed by the group Director of Operations and Public Affairs Adeyefa Adeyemo issued at Osogbo on Tuesday morning, the group said the crisis within the PDP made it a trap for any political candidate and asserted that the governor’s exit is a unanimous request and expectation of Osun people.
According to the group, Osun people have been on edge since the PDP crisis erupted and have been mounting pressure on the Governor to quit the PDP to avoid the risk of double nominations among other electoral traps.
“We are happy the Governor has taken the right decision. Those plotting double nomination or a Zamfara style agenda against the governor have failed. Governor Adeleke has left the PDP because the party is in deep crisis.
“We look forward to the next political step of Mr Governor, a man so well loved by Osun people. We urge him to declare for a new party and ensure compliance with the electoral requirements. Osun people are waiting to embrace any platform on which the Governor decides to contest”, the group affirmed.
While pledging to intensify ongoing mobilisation for the governor, the group asserted that the re-election of Governor Adeleke is a done deal in the presence of God and Man, adding that “the first term of good governance and democratic dividends has deepened the winning potency and capacity of the state governor” the statement concluded.
