The Osun State Amotekun Corps has strongly refuted a viral report alleging that its operatives arrested traditional chiefs in Itapa, Atakumosa East Local Government Area.
In a press statement signed by the Corps’ Public Relations Officer, Yusuf Abass, the security operative described the report titled “Osun Amotekun Begins Massive Arrest of APC Members in Atakumosa” as “malicious, misleading, and entirely false.”
“There was no arrest of any community chief in Itapa or any part of Atakumosa East,” the statement clarified. “The allegations are baseless and appear to be politically motivated, aimed at tarnishing the image and neutrality of the Corps.”
Amotekun warned that politicizing security operations poses serious risks, including public panic and community unrest. The Corps urged residents to disregard the report and remain calm.
“We remain committed to protecting lives and property without bias toward political, religious, or social identity,” the statement added.
The Corps also advised media outlets and individuals to refrain from spreading unverified and potentially harmful information, emphasizing the need for responsibility in reporting security-related issues.
