A civil group, the Osun Democrats for Democracy (ODD) has commended President Bola Tinubu for living above the petty politics of certain elements in the All Progressives Congress (APC), describing the hosting of Governor Ademola Adeleke as an affirmation of the President’s open door policy.
The ODD in a statement issued on Wednesday, welcomed the meeting between President Tinubu and the Governor as a necessary step towards solidifying a partnership aimed at bringing more benefits for the people, knocking those criticising the development as enemies of Osun state who don’t wish it well.
The group praised President Tinubu for rebuffing attempts by vindictive and desperate politicians who are out to build wedges and not bridges, noting its deep respect for the President for keeping up to his status as the father of all.
“We want to commend President Bola Tinubu for choosing the people and not politics, because that was what his hosting of Governor Ademola Adeleke at his residence in Lagos state yesterday clearly depicted.
He chose to be father for all and not for a few as some people have been trying to project him,” the group noted in a statement.
“Yesterday’s (Tuesday) meeting holds much significance, particularly for Osun people who have received the development as an indication that those who are bent on dragging the state down have failed. Politics should be about the people and we are deeply moved that President Tinubu showed this much.
“Those who are critical of the meeting are the same people who have been doing everything to drag Osun down just because they lost an election. This is never a way to play politics, and we are so glad that President Tinubu did not share their approaches.
“We note that President Tinubu visited Anambra governed by APGA and before then, was in Enugu, under the PDP, which proved him to be a democrat who is open to Nigeria’s multi-party system. It is only those who are out to destroy the President’s image that would not be comfortable with the visit of Governor Adeleke to the leader of the country.
“As a group desirous of an Osun where politics would centre on the people, we commend President Tinubu fatherly disposition and the desire for a partnership that works for the people. Therefore, we share the excitement of Osun people and believes strongly that the partnership will earn President Tinubu the massive support of the people.”
