Governor Ademola Adeleke of Osun State has congratulated the newly elected leadership of the Nigerian Union of Journalists (NUJ), Osun State Council, describing their emergence as a call to service and a demonstration of the confidence reposed in them by journalists across the chapels.
The governor gave the remarks while hosting the new NUJ executives, assuring them of the state government’s readiness to strengthen collaboration with the union in the interest of good governance.
Adeleke said the emergence of the new leadership offers an opportunity to deepen the partnership between the Osun State Government and the NUJ, noting that both parties must remain supportive partners in delivering democratic dividends to residents of the state.
He noted that his administration maintained a strong working relationship with the immediate past leadership of the NUJ and pledged continued support for the union under the new executive.
The governor said he had carefully considered the programmes and initiatives presented by the new leadership, describing them as viable platforms for cooperation between the government and the NUJ.
He therefore directed the Commissioner for Information and his spokesperson to work closely with the NUJ to implement the proposed initiatives as standing partnership projects between the union and the state government.
