True leadership is not measured by mere rhetoric but by the humility to admit faults and the courage to offer sincere apologies when you err. Sadly, this standard has eluded Amubo Bola Oyebamiji and his political cohort, whose campaign has been marred from the onset by cowardice, deceit, and a deliberate refusal to take responsibility.
The toxic culture of denial and finger-pointing within the Ambo project reeks of desperation and a fundamental lack of discipline. Instead of fostering unity within the Osun APC, they have become a disruptive faction known for fanning the flames of discord.
The very first coordinated online attack against President Bola Ahmed Tinubu following the Adeleke family’s visit to Lagos originated from Prince Adeshina Ayomide, a loud and unapologetic supporter of the Ambo movement. The alliance between Oyebamiji and Adeshina is no secret, further confirmed by Oyebamiji’s role as Chairman of Adeshina’s wedding in Ilorin, Kwara state alongside his wife.
This is not mere speculation, it is a reflection of the deep rooted connection between the instigators of these attacks and the leadership of the Ambo project. It is disheartening that while pretending to align with the APC’s central leadership, these individuals operate as political saboteurs from within.
This isn’t an isolated incident but part of a disturbing pattern. Only two weeks ago, key APC leaders affiliated with the Ambo campaign launched a barrage of insults at the Chief of Staff to the President during a courtesy visit to Osun State.
The spokesman of the Ambo group, Adedeji Adebayo, has shown relentless hostility toward prominent party stalwarts. His recent verbal tirades against respected figures like former Deputy Governor Benedict Gboyega Alabi, National Secretary Ajibola Basiru, and the State Chairman of the APC, Sooko Tajudeen Lawal, underscore the faction’s reckless ambition and total disregard for party hierarchy and discipline.
What is even more shocking is the unguarded and reckless utterance of Rt. Hon. Timothy Owoeye, Director General of the Ambo project and a former Speaker of the House of Assembly, who accused President Tinubu of scheming to sell the APC governorship ticket in Osun to Governor Ademola Adeleke. This is not just a baseless accusation. It is a dangerous attempt to delegitimize the President and sow seeds of confusion within the party. We demand an immediate retraction of this treacherous statement. Owoeye’s position within the party only makes his indiscretion more disgraceful, proving that experience does not always equate to wisdom.
To salvage what remains of his credibility, Amubo Bola Oyebamiji must take swift and public action. He must call his foot soldiers to order, disband the online army of agitators that peddle division, and extend an unreserved apology to President Tinubu. Leadership is not measured by how loud one’s supporters shout on social media, but by the ability to instill discipline and foster cohesion. The Ambo project, as it stands, has become a political stain, an embarrassing sideshow to the serious business of governance and party building in Osun. If Oyebamiji truly believes in the APC, he must stop enabling these political mercenaries and start acting like a responsible party man.
