In a decisive intervention by law enforcement, two suspected assassins linked to the All Progressives Congress (APC) have been apprehended along the Lagos-Ibadan Expressway.
They were caught with various ammunition and bullet packs which they about pulling into Osun state through Ikire.
The suspects, identified as Odeyemi Ojo and Jericho, were intercepted by security operatives and are currently being held at the Eleweran Division of the police.
According to preliminary reports, the duo, who are based in Ikire, Irewole Local Government Area, allegedly confessed to being sponsored by Osun APC leaders to escalate political violence in the state.
A raid on the Ikire residences of their sponsors revealed that they have fled the town even though the suspects are singing about their sponsors.
Their mission, as revealed during interrogations, was to execute further mayhem in Osun, a development that has raised serious security concerns.
The report which has reached Osun State Governor, Senator Ademola Adeleke, has raised concerns as the Governor is reported to have called for more details on the development.
However, Governor Adeleke has directed his Special Adviser on security matters to wade into the matter to ensure that the suspects are not let off the hook.
