Osun students to represent Nigeria at ‘World Debate Day’ in Malaysia

Sequel to the emergence of Osun State contingent as second best in the National Inter-school debate competition held recently throughout Nigeria,the stage is now set for the final round of the competition holding in Malaysia.

The debate was organised as part of activities to mark Nigeria’s 25th Democracy anniversary and the first year in office of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu.

The debate competition had participants drawn from public secondary schools from across the 36 States of the country who debated on different topics in relation to national development at different stages.

‘Team Osun’ was made of Abimbola Salawa from Methodist High School, Ilesa, Daniels Happy from Master A Secondary School Ilesha, Adeogo Mercy from CAC Grammar School, Gbodofon, Osogbo and Adewale Oluwaseun from Ila Grammar school, Ila.

The students who are all products of public schools made Osun state proud with their emergence as second second best at the end of the keenly contested competition.

They have qualified to represent Nigeria at the ‘World Debate Day’ to be held very soon in Malaysia.

Receiving the brilliant students in his office, Commissioner for Education ,Hon. Dipo Eluwole said the students did not only made their families and State proud but also Nigeria as they are now set to hoist the flag of the country in far away Malaysia during the World Debate Day as a result of their sound academic exploits.

Describing the students as good ambassadors of Osun, the Commissioner charged them to continue to be good, diligent and hardworking .

He appreciated the Principals and teachers of the students for the positive work done on them,stressing that, the result of their superlative performance is very visible for all to see.

Also speaking, the Executive Secretary, Osun State Senior Secondary Education Board, Mrs. Hannah Kolawole thanked the administration of Senator Ademola Adeleke for approving funds to sponsor the students for the competition.

Mrs Kolawole who also lauded the students and their teachers,noted that, their good performance is an affirmation of the positive disposition of the Ademola Adeleke led administration to education in Osun state.
