Governor of Osun State, Senator Ademola Adeleke on Tuesday addressed protesters at the Government Secretariat in Osogbo the Osun state capital.
While receiving multitude of protesters, Governor Adeleke pledges continuous support for all citizens.
The Governor who was represented by his deputy, Prince Kola Adewusi appreciated the support and comportment of all protesters so far, promising to to table all their grievances to the President at the next NEC meeting.
He added that as a state, his government will also meet all their demands at the state level.
“I appreciate every youths in Osun state for their support and for comporting themselves, the Governor appreciate you all.
“I can assure you all that the Governor will write a letter to be presented at the next NEC meeting which will contain the grievances of the youths and will be presented to the Federal government.
“And I can assure you that your demand from the state government and all your requests will be taken care of.
“In regards to agricultural development, the Osun state government has purchased tractors.
“Law students has just recently received bursary from the state government.
“All outstanding salaries before this administration came on board, are being paid regularly by the state government. These are some of the things the state government is doing to alleviate some problems
“And I can assure you the government will continue to do more for the people of Osun state,”
In an interview with Sahel Correspondent, The spokesperson for the Coalition of Concerned Nigeria Citizens, Mr Segun Oyewale, explained that the protest has been on for 6 days and they won’t relent until their demands are met.
He, also assured the state government and the security agencies that this demonstration will continue to be a peaceful one.
He said, “We’ve been on the street since 6 days ago, we keep demanding that we want Change, we want Good governance, we want all the bad policies made by the Federal Government led by President Bola Ahmed Tinubu to be reversed.
“We want price control on all the food prices in the country and here we are.
“When we want to start this demonstration, we assured the state government and the security agencies that this demonstration is going to be peaceful and today is the 6th day.
“And I can tell you authoritatively that Osun state is one of the best state that has been conducting the protest peacefully, that’s why we’re here.
“Our demands are audible to the deaf and visible to the blind, the larger constituent of this country are youth and we’re saying government need to do more in terms of engaging the youth. And recently we saw the news about the high rate inflation and some other things.
“We call the government to disburse bursary and just like the Deputy governor had addressed that they’ve already been doing that.
“The recent tractor that just came, we want the government to engage youths and allocate more land for all the farm processes that’d be able to contribute to the agricultural sector of the state.
“We also demand that the state government set up panel enquires that’s going to serve as an organizing body from the youths of the state to the state government. By doing so, both youths and the state government is going to work hand in hand to achieve better Osun state.”
