● Diversion of LG Fund is a Criminal Case without Expiration-Kolapo Alimi
●Local Government Pensioners are Dying- Rasheed Ayinde, CPC Coordinator
●No legal Justifications for Tenure Elongation-Omolade
It was another weekend of deepening negative image for Osun state All Progressives Congress(APC) and her court sacked sit tight council chairmen as callers and legal experts on Radio attacked them over Diversion of local government fund when local workers and pensioners remain unpaid, uncared for in the last 12 months.
The pillorying of the Osun APC came on a radio programme tagged stewardship and aired on all Osun radio stations simultaneously.
Callers not only questioned the inhuman posture of the APC and its Osun operatives, legal experts on the programme shredded all legal arguments of the sacked chairmen with legal and constitutional facts.
Several lawyers on the programme faulted claims by the APC chairmen that their tenure started only in.2024, affirming that their tenure started the day former governor Oyetola swore them in September 2022.
The experts further also described as lies the arguments that the APC chairmen did not sit before the court sacked them, submitting that they sat for 42 days under Oyetola as Governor before the court removed them from office.
Another lawyer submitted that while the constitution and the electoral act allow for appeal in the case of nullified elections, 21 days was specified and that the clause does not even apply in the case of the court sacked APC chairmen.
The lawyers further argued that the APC chairmen in their own affidavit before the Supreme Court declared that their tenure lapsed by October 22, 2025, questioning why suddenly they concorted illegal arguments for tenure elongation.
While the lawyers were pouring out several sections of the constitution and the electoral act on the illegality of the forceful seizure and occupation of the council secretariats, callers negatively affected by the mismanagement of the council fund accused Osun APC of callousness and man inhumanity to man.
Many callers who identified themselves as local teachers, health workers among others questioned why LG funds are being shared illegally while those officially entitled to it are denied access.
“ We call on Tinubu to call his boys to order. I am a local teacher. Why should they be denying me of my right as a worker? If the governor has not been paying what would have happened to our schools?
“ I am a health worker from Ilobu. The story of how APC is sharing local money is making many people angry. I am bitter. This is not politics but ojelu.
Several callers threatened to wait for the APC at the August polls, vowing to mobilize massively to punish the party for its inhuman action.
Mr Rasheed Ayinde, leader of the contributory pensioners called in and raised alarm over the pain and hardship facing the local pensioners due to the hijack of the local fund at the UBA.
“This money is meant for local workers, teachers, health workers and we local pensioners. I had an audio message recently. Our members are dying of hunger. Governor Adeleke should be left at peace to finish the good work he is doing.
“He is paying our pensions. Those holding our money at the UBA should hands off. Enough is enough. They should think of humanity and save our soul”, Ayinde said.
Commissioner for Information, Oluomo Kolapo Alimi in his contributions alerted those sharing the local government fund to beware of the law as the criminal cases can be taken up anytime.
According to the Commissioner, people should be careful of any money they are receiving from the UBA as any local government funds illegally paid out will be retrieved either now or later.
“Criminal cases have no expiry time. There will be a time a new Sheriff will enter town and people will be held to account. There is no autonomy money that people are sharing in violation of the law. Every money diverted will be recovered”, the Commissioner posited.
