The political landscape of Odo Otin Local Government, Osun State, witnessed a dramatic shift as hundreds of members of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Ward 5, Iyeku town, defected to the People’s Democratic Party (PDP). The event, which drew a significant crowd, was celebrated with speeches from key leaders of the PDP, who warmly welcomed the new members into the fold.
The chairman of the PDP in Odo Otin, Mr. Taiye, expressed his excitement over the mass defection, describing it as a sign of progress and acceptance of the PDP’s vision for Nigeria. While addressing the new members, he emphasized the importance of their active participation in the forthcoming elections. “Your impact must be felt in the next election,” he stated, urging them to work collaboratively to ensure the party’s success. Mr. Taiye also lauded their courage in leaving the APC, attributing the move to dissatisfaction with the party’s handling of the country’s economy and governance.
Highlighting ongoing efforts to improve the lives of Odo Otin residents, Mr. Taiye announced that the Speaker of the Osun State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Adewale Olumide Egbedun, had plans to empower indigenes and distribute relief packages during the festive season. This gesture, he said, was a testament to the PDP’s commitment to the welfare of the people.
Alhaji K.K. SA. to the Governor of Osun State another prominent PDP leader, expressed gratitude to the Governor of Osun State, His Excellency Senator Nurudeen Jackson Ademola Adeleke, for his unwavering commitment to alleviating the economic challenges faced by Osun State residents. According to him, the governor’s leadership has provided a buffer against the harsh economic realities, ensuring that the people of Osun feel less burdened by the national economic downturn.
The Commissioner for Home Affairs, Hon. Aderibigbe Asendo, also commended the defectors for their bold decision and assured them of fairness, equity, and equal opportunities within the PDP. His words of encouragement highlighted the party’s inclusive policies and determination to make a positive impact.
Rt. Hon. Adewale Olumide Egbedun, in his speech, described the PDP as a “sweet party” that welcomes everyone with open arms and equal opportunities. He urged the new members to embrace the party’s values and work diligently for its success.
