20 Reasons Why Governor Adeleke Deserves Re-Election

Governor Ademola Adeleke of Osun state deserves re-election as a performing governor of Osun state due to 20 cogent reasons which are validated by stakeholders locally, nationally and internationally.

In a detailed response to recent opposition claims and postulations, Spokesperson to the governor, Mallam Olawale Rasheed posited that aside the 20 reasons to be listed, the governor adheres to procurement regulations in project execution, enforces equitable spread in infrastructure allocation, sticks to the rule of law in governance crisis, implements merit based pre-election teachers’ recruitment despite financial constraints and ensures judicious handling of state finance through verifiable projects and programmes.

“The statement from Osun APC is a manifestation of its depressive political quagmire due to deepening rejection by the people and the daily entrenchment of Accord as a vehicle of choice among Osun people. Its governorship candidate has become a laughing stock going by his INEC fillings, his lack of credible manifestos, his lacklustre performance in past offices he occupied, the stinking baggage of his undemocratic emergence as a candidate and his undisguised bid to subvert the will of Osun people

Knocking the Osun APC for its abysmal performance while in office, its inhuman treatment of the citizenry while in power and its financial strangulation of the state through hijacking of local government fund, the spokesperson said the governor demonstrates servant leadership trait by instituting God’s praising in governance and by serving collective interest and yearnings of Osun people for people’s based development.

Osun APC, the spokesperson continued, is desperately chasing shadows over the governor’s qualification for election which is already settled by the judiciary and validated by the electoral commission, submitting that the opposition is frustrated by its failed bid to stop the governor from contesting and by the ever-expanding acceptability and popularity of the Accord as a winning platform come 2026.

Mallam Rasheed said the Governor deseves re-election for more than 20 reasons, citing empowerment of Osun cooperatives movement with almost N4billion naira, supoort and strengthening of community development associations(CDA) with grassroots health and infra projects, implementation of Imole Medical outreach with almost 80 thousand beneficiaries, reviving Osun cocoa revolution through aggressive seedling distribution and new farmers’ initiative, the acquisition of brand new tractors now serving farmers across the state, implementation of thousands of local projects through integrated rural development under O-RAMP.

Others include introduction of 45 days windows for acquisition of certificate of occupancy, the revival of Osun free trade zones with active investors; the digitisation of Osun tax and revenue collection system, the implementation of SIFMIS payroll application which was abandoned under Oyetola administration, the reduction of Osun debt stock by over 40 percent according to the National Debt Management Office, the implementation of local content policy for Osun money to service Osun, the development of the first five star stadium for the state, the making of Osun sport commission and Osun sport development fund.

The spokesperson listed further the revival of six moribound waterworks across the state, the development of Ora water dams to service igbomina land, strategic water access projects through 332 boreholes across the 332 wards, development of Osun as a digital hub for digital economy; introduction of state ICT policy, tech innovation act and domestication of Nigeria StartUp act; revival and ongoing implementation of Osun state security trust fund.

While mocking Osun APC for its lacklustre reign while in power, the spokesperson said Governor Adeleke has constructed about 350 kilometers of roads, developing three major flyover bridges, reconstructed town linkage but collapsed bridges at Iwo, Ile Ife and Gbongan while dualisation of township roads are ongoing at Iwo, Ila Orangun, Obokun/Oriade, Ile Ife, Ifetedo, Ikirun and Osogbo.

“Governor Adeleke deseves re-election because he bestowed Osun workers with the best nationally rated minimum wage table, paid inherited half salaries, paid almost 100 billion naira in inherited pension debt, restored welfare and dignity of Osun public service, raised Osun national examination ratings from number 33 under APC government to number 7 both for 2024 and 2025, bagged the best state in primary health care access for both 2024 and 2025, reconstructed over 200 health centres with solar and water facilities, rehabilitated about 150 schools, completed several abandoned projects at the Osun state university, secured final national medical accreditation for the Osun state university and finally make University of Ilesa a reality with take off grant, close to 100 accredited courses and ongoing upgrade of its internal infrastructure.

“Under Governor Adeleke, Osun government runs an inclusive, forward looking and world class five point agenda which has been upgraded for unveiling during the forthcoming campaign. Osun is on the path of sustainable growth across sectors under a multi-sectoral development strategies that leave no sector behind and that has the people at the centre of its content and implementation”, the spokesperson concluded.
