Osun State Chapter of the Peoples’ Democratic Party, PDP, on Tuesday warned the All Progressive Congress, APC, in the state to desist from engaging in politics of bitterness.
The Director of Publicity for PDP, Mr Oladele Bamiji said this while reacting to a statement issued by APC Chairman, Mr Tajudeen Lawal, where it stated that PDP senators and Governor Ademola Adeleke’s opposition would not have blocked the chances of Gboyega Oyetola from becoming a minister.
But Bamiji added that Oyetola would never have said that PDP’S senators support is unnecessary because he was the one on the hot seat and knows what such gesture gave him in terms of mileage.
He noted that the former governor being a minister will also have one or two positive impact on the economic well-being of the state if he make the best use of it.
In his words; “APC will continue to live in that pedestrian of life and that is why they will continue to be at political length to the voting public.
“For us, the Governor has done the best thing as a stateman and leader of the state whose main focus is the overall development of the state.
“I think they should know, as we speak, there are some of these nominees that have problems. If our Senators wanted to play politics of bitterness as the APC chairman and his media boys are playing, they would have stood up because they have the right.
“Just as it has been a bit of tradition at that senate. They have the right to make comment about the nominees from their state and if they gave passed negative or antagonistic comments about him, Yes, they may think it will not affect him but that negative tag will always be on him till whatever time he spent there
“We believe that the former governor being a minister will also have one or two positive impact on the economic well-being of the state if he make the best use of it”, he concluded.
