● Why We Form Grand Coalition Behind Adeleke – Opposition Politicians
Osun state political space is presently tension soaked out of huge expectations as to which political party the state governor will align with.
Insiders had announced that the governor will make his choice public today but as at press time, there was no official confirmation.
While names of some political parties have been mentioned, even close allies of the governor are keeping sealed lips as to what direction the governor is going.
Many loyalists of the governor claimed to have an idea of the party of choice but said they are not authorised to mention the said political party.
Aside from the sealed lips of the governor’s supporters, a cross party movement has also been noticed in the last few days.
Some chieftains of the APC and ADC are reportedly mobilising a multipartisan movement to move into any party of choice of Mr Governor.
A politician who is involved in the drive noted as follows: “I can tell you many Osun politicians will move into any political party announced by the governor.
“Our people within APC and ADC are going to swell the ranks of the governor and his people. The new party will provide a home for two kinds of politicians in Osun state. Those who are fed up with APC and ADC and those who are in love with the governor’s good performance.
“I fall under those who will support him because of his performance in office. 2026 election is not about political party but about the personality. We are going to the new party because of Ademola”, the politician noted.
Another politician from the APC lamented the situation within the APC and noted that movement out of the APC to the Governor’s side is a matter of days.
“You know what is happening in APC. Our people are disillusioned and you can be sure many of us will aligh with Adeleke. From Ife to Ilesa to central, the Adeleke should expect inflow of people”, he said
It would be recalled that the last one week has witnessed a dramatic shift in Osun political space with a grand coalition reportedly being formed behind any party of choice of the state governor.
According to news reports, top political leaders across the political divides are united in their desire to ensure the governor wins a second term, hence the united front being forged ahead of the polls.
The governor’s exit from the PDP is said to have provided a soft landing for many political leaders and leaders of thought who could not join the governor in his old party but who now feel liberated following the planned movement of the governor into a new party.
“Once the governor declares for a new party, there will be mass defection into that party from other old parties. The signs are there that admirers of the governor in other parties are eager to join him in his new abode.”, a source privy to the development.
