The viral report about the Chief Security Officer to Governor Ademola Adeleke, Adekunle Omoyele, operating and running a joint task force to witchhunt political opponents is false and a wicked lie concocted by those afraid of defeat at forthcoming state elections.
This was confirmed in a statement signed by Adeniyi Sarafa,S.A. Print Media to the Governor, he stated that:
“As a disciplined police officer with deep records of crime bursting before his new appointment, Mr Omoyele has continuously operated as a responsible state officer who professionally discharges his mandate as a Chief Security Officer to the State Governor.
“Ever since his assumption of duty, Omoyele has acted as a committed officer whose preoccupation is offering security counseling to the Number One Citizen and whose routine is liaising with various security agencies to ensure conducive environment for the security apparatus to deliver on their mandate of protecting the state.
“It is therefore not true that the CSO is operating any JTF or security squad targeting political opposition. It is a figment of imagination of a party afraid of election loss.
“We call on the public to ignore the report. Mr Governor does not need any evil squad to deliver good governance. The people are the main squad any responsible leader need to take the state to greater height.
“We also urge security organisations including the Nigeria Police Service to discountenance such fake news and deliberate falsehood. Omoyele remains a conscientious state officer whose contributions to security governance in Osun state is untainted.
