…promises to facilitate skills acquisition for women and young girls
Osun State Governor, Senator Ademola Adeleke has expressed his administration’s readiness to revive the dying Adult Literacy Centres across the state and facilitate skill acquisition for all, especially women and young girls.
He made this known at the International Conference of Nigerian National Council for Adult Education (NNCAE) held on Tuesday at the University of Ilesha, Ilesa, Osun state.
The governor who was represented by the Commissioner for Education, Hon. Dipo Eluwole , disclosed that adult education is more relevant today like never before in the history of the country.
He added that due to new technological ideas and innovations to learn on a daily basis, there is need for more skills to be acquired for sustainability and prosperity.
“Due to the increase of teenage pregnancy, early marriage, child labour, irresponsible parenthood and societal violation of the Universal basic education ethics, adult education is the only way out.
“I am appealing to the association to expedite action with adequate collaboration with the Federal Ministry of Education to ensure that Nigerians are given second chances to achieve basic literacy and numeracy”, he concluded.
