Osun Council Judgment: Osun Assembly Warns Against Violent Plot

The Osun State House of Assembly has expressed grave concern over the sinister plot devised by the opposition party, the APC, aimed at inciting violence across the state.

This was contained In a statement signed by the Speaker, Rt. Hon. Adewale Egbedun on Monday.

According to the Statement, he said “In response to this alarming development, we call upon the Inspector General of Police, Kayode Egbetokun, to ensure that his officers uphold the highest standards of professionalism, remaining neutral in their essential role of maintaining security in Osun.

“We are aware that Alhaji Gboyega Oyetola is exploiting his ministerial influence and his familial connection to the President to manipulate security leadership, thereby fostering an environment of unrest.

“It is crucial to emphasise that the Appeal Court judges have not issued any directive reinstating the chairmen from the contentious Yes/No election, and we firmly reject any attempts to subvert justice.

“We urge the Inspector General to take into account the Appeal Judgment delivered on January 13, 2025, which reaffirmed the Osogbo Federal High Court’s decision by Hon. Justice N. Ayo Emmanuel on November 30, 2022, that removed the chairmen from office.

“We implore the IGP to ensure that his officers act with integrity and resist the provocations of a bad loser intent on causing chaos in our cherished state.

“The world has witnessed the tragic violence in Rivers State, resulting in loss of lives and destruction of property; we refuse to allow such turmoil to take root in Osun and will stand firm against any threats to our peace.
