The President of the Abuja Chamber of Commerce and Industry (ACCI), Chief Emeka Obegolu, SAN, PhD, has expressed deep sorrow and shock following the sudden death of Herbert Wigwe, Chief Executive Officer of Access Holdings.
Wigwe, along with his wife, son, and colleagues, tragically crashed in a helicopter in the United States of America late Friday.
Chief Obegolu, SAN, the Leader of the Organised Private Sector in FCT, in a statement issued on Sunday, stated that the news of Wigwe’s passing and that of his immediate family and colleagues was not only a great loss to his family but also the Nigerian banking sector and the business community at large.
“Wigwe, as the leader of one of Nigeria’s largest banks, has left an indelible mark on the Nigerian banking industry and the country’s economy, achieving outstanding results,” he mentioned.
Chief Obegolu, SAN, PhD, reiterated that the Access Bank family, the Nigerian banking sector, and the business community have suffered a major loss with the passing of Wigwe, who was known for his intellect and fine character.
Chief Obegolu also highlighted, “This loss is deeply felt by anyone who has had the privilege of knowing Wigwe and recognizing his significant contributions in various ways.”
“On behalf of the Executive Council and members of the Abuja Chamber of Commerce and Industry (ACCI), I offer heartfelt prayers for the repose of the departed souls and the solace of their grieving families,” he stated.
