OSHIA Commences 2025 Annual Performance Retreat, Highlight Achievements

Osun Health Insurance Agency (OSHIA) has commenced a two days annual performance review and strategy retreat for the year 2025, for board members, management and staff.

The retreat which took off on Monday, will hold between 9th to 11th of February 2025 at Miccom Golf Hotels and Resort Conference Centre, Ada Osun state.

During his address at the ceremony, Elder Ayanleye Aina, Osun state Head of Service praise the state Governor, Senator Ademola Adeleke for prioritizing people’s health, according to him “health is wealth but to the Governor, Health is all”.

He, also commended the effort of O’his Executive Secretary Dr Rasaq Akindele for his performance and commitment, while urging all other stakeholders and members to remain focused, engaged and committed so as to achieve greater result in 2025.

His words, “I’m not surprised that the ES is working, because this is not his first time of performing well, I’m so proud of him, he has always done well. It’s my honour to be here and to declare open this annual retreat.

“Gratitude to the state Governor for his commitment on our health sector, we must commend him. No doubt health is wealth but to him health is all.

“My advise to you all is that it is crucial that you also recognize the challenges ahead.
Always strive for excellence. This is the time to buckle up and do more, you must also recognize areas where you have failed, know how can you improve on your resources, how you can improve your health care delivery, how you can foster relationship and achieve better in the society, I urge you all to contribute your ideas”, he added.

Earlier in his welcome address, Dr Rasaq Akindele thoroughly highlighted achievements and interventions of OSHIA Agency in the last two years.

He said, “Complete payment of outstanding capitations and fee for service (13 months arrears); Completion, Furnishing and Commissioning of the OSHIA office complex, Abeere; Complete digitalization of OSHIA operations; Inauguration of OSHIA Governing board, for smooth running of the Agency.

“Inauguration of Ethics and Research committee, for research purposes and handling of the Agency’s data for verifiable inferences, for planning purposes and to attract developmental partners.

“Regular provision of drugs to our partnering facilities through adequate funding and monitoring of the OSHIA Drug Distribution Center (DDC); Distribution of multimillion naira equipment free to OHIS accredited government facilities to assist in providing optimum care for our enrollees.

“Regular training and retraining of staff to ensure optimum discharge of their duties; Major support for Catastrophic Medical Conditions; 6 patients have been supported for renal transplant. A patient supported complete hip replacement and so many other Catastrophic Medical Conditions.

“In collaboration with Rotary International, free medical and surgical outreach dedicated to the Pensioners where one thousand nine hundred and fifty of them Osun State received various forms of surgical and medical interventions for their ailments.

“Enrollment of over twenty-three thousand (>23,000) pensioners into the Osun Health Insurance Scheme (OHIS) completely free of charge. Free medical and Surgical treatment.

“Enrollment of more than three hundred (300) people living with HIV into the OHIS free of charge; Enrollment of 9,500 people living with disabilities (PWD), (physically disabled, spinal cord patient, deaf, dumb, blind and the albinos) into OHIS completely free of charge.

“Provision of life aid gadgets for all the PWDs registered to ease their life activities. These include, but not limited to, wheelchairs, clutches, walking sticks, hearing aids, all forms of visual aids, ultraviolet umbrellas, creams, ultraviolet glasses, spinal cord packs etc. Some of these PWDs will also undergo free surgery for their ailments”, he stated.
