The Nigerian Youth Congress (NYC), Osun State Chapter, warmly commends the Osun State Government for its timely, courageous, and principled decision to suspend further dealings with the Osun State chapter of the National Youth Council of Nigeria (NYCN) in line with due process, transparency, and accountability.
The group in a statement jointly signed by NYC state Chairman Comrade Olayemi Olaribigbe and the general secretary Comrade Akande Taofeeq Olawale applaud the government’s resolution to order a review of previous engagements, constitute an independent three-man investigative committee, and implement the directive of the Federal Ministry of Youth Development, following the withdrawal of the NYCN’s certificate of registration by the Corporate Affairs Commission (CAC).
According to the statement, this action clearly demonstrates the Osun State Government’s unwavering commitment to good governance, institutional integrity, and the protection of the youth sector from mismanagement, factionalisation, and leadership crises that have continued to undermine youth development efforts.
The NYC recognizes that the decision to suspend dealings with the NYCN pending the outcome of investigations is not punitive, but rather a responsible governance measure aimed at restoring sanity, credibility, and public trust in youth-focused institutions across the state.
“We further commend the government for resisting the politicisation of youth-related issues and for reassuring the public that normalcy, transparency, and accountability will be restored through established mechanisms. This approach aligns with democratic values and reinforces Osun State’s reputation as a model of responsive and people-oriented leadership,” the group noted.
The Nigerian Youth Congress reiterates its readiness to continue partnering with the Osun State Government and all credible stakeholders to promote inclusive youth engagement, ethical leadership, and sustainable youth empowerment initiatives across the state.
“Once again, we applaud the leadership of Governor Ademola Adeleke, through the Ministry of Information and Public Enlightenment for this bold and necessary step in safeguarding the future of Osun youths”, the statement concluded.
