Democracy Day: Abuja Chamber of Commerce Felicitates With Nigerians, Urges FG for Business Friendly Policies

The Abuja Chamber of Commerce and Industry (ACCI) has joined the rest of the citizens in celebrating the Democracy Day, which signifies freedom for the country.

The President of ACCI, Dr Al-Mujtaba Abubakar while felicitating with Nigerians also urged the new administration of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu (GCFR), to make friendly policies that would help the business community operate without any hindrance.

Reacting to President Tinubu’s democracy day speech, Dr Abubakar urged him to fulfill every component of our electoral pact with the people for a ‘Renewed Hope’ agenda as he promised.

In President Tinubu’s speech, he referred to his inauguration address on May 29, where he gave effect to the decision taken by his predecessor-in-office to remove the fuel subsidy albatross and free up for collective use the much-needed resources, which had hitherto been pocketed by a few rich.

“I admit that the decision will impose extra burden on the masses of our people. I feel your pain. This is one decision we must bear to save our country from going under and take our resources away from the stranglehold of a few unpatriotic elements.

“Painfully, I have asked you, my compatriots, to sacrifice a little more for the survival of our country. For your trust and belief in us, I assure you that your sacrifice shall not be in vain. The government I lead, will repay you through massive investment in transportation, infrastructure, education, regular power supply, healthcare and other public utilities that will improve the quality of lives.”

In response, Dr Abubakar stated that the business community is looking forward to policies that would help them contribute greatly to building a stronger economy, adding that if favourable policies are put in place, the private sectors would be able to operate without any hindrance thereby, contributing to the economy growth of the country.

He also called for investment in transportation, infrastructure, education, regular power supply, healthcare and other public utilities that will improve the quality of lives.

“These and many more are what the business community need to have smooth running of their businesses and we pray that this administration would be magnanimous enough to supply them.”

On behalf of the Executive Council and members of ACCI, I congratulate the people of Nigeria, President Tinubu and his team while also praying for a successful tenure. Happy democracy day.
