LanreLeke Football Team won after defeating Ataoja FC at the grand finale of 2024 Governor’s cup football competition, sponsored by Peculiar Ultimate Limited.
The 90- minutes match, which held at Osogbo Township Stadium on Monday ended a goal-less draw between the two clubs. However, LanreLeke emerged victorious after defeating Ataoja FC 4-1 in the penalty shootout.
The Speaker of the Osun state house of Assembly, Hon. Adewale Egbedun, in his address commended the organizers and the sponsors for their generous contribution towards the tournament.
In his words, “It is through initiative like this that we can help to develop schools which is an important part of our administration to provide a well rounded education for our children.
“As a Goverment we recognize the value of sport, and it’s ability to promote health, team work, discipline and social skills. Sport also has the power to unit people from all works of life regardless of social economy status, age, gender, or background.
The speaker, reiterated that current administration in the state is committed to provide resources such as equipment, training and infrastructure development that would truly develop sport in our schools
He also advised that real change can be created by investing in the people who will be the future of sport in the state.

During an interview with Sahel standard Chairman of Aiyedire Local government, Hon. Akin Ogunbiyi explained why sport activities is important among youths.
“I used to say XYZ is no longer the solution, but what you can offer.
When you see people who can offer their best in sport, you’ll see them in their millions because they can make millions of people happy. It is so good if we can encourage sport. He advised.
Funsho Akindele is among the coaches for LanreLeke FC described the Funsho Akindele Rasaq, one of the coaches from LanreLeke Football Academy in an interview with him described performance of the players as excellent

After the tournament game, the Lanreleke FC players were decorated with medals and gifts by the Speaker.
