The ruling party in Osun State, the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) has berated the unempathetic APC in the state about an attempt to use the issue of O’meal as an avenue to score a political point.
The recent incident of food poisoning affecting some pupils of St James Primary School, Owoope, Osogbo, is an unfortunate occurrence that demands collective concern and impartial investigation. However, what should be a time for unity and solution-seeking has regrettably become fodder for political exploitation by the Osun APC.
In a statement by the Media office of the party and signed by the State Chairman, Hon. Sunday Bisi, on Tuesday, the PDP expressed dismay at the APC’s rash exploitation of the incident for attention and sympathy, describing it as an act of desperation.
“Governor Adeleke’s dedication to citizens’ welfare since assuming office is undeniable. His commitment to initiatives like the O’meal scheme, despite being a federal government scheme, is a testament to his genuine concern for the people, especially the school children as we have in the case at hand. However, some individuals, possibly positioned within the O’meal scheme, may have nefarious intentions aimed at undermining governmental efforts. That is subject to further investigation by the government.”
“The PDP government of Osun State, though limited in its influence over the O’meal scheme being a FG pilot scheme, will leave no stone untouched for the comprehensive inquest into the matter with appropriate penalties in the offing against culpable individuals.”
“The swift response of the Osun State government, led by Governor Adeleke, should be commended. Immediate measures were taken, including ordering a thorough investigation into the incident by relevant agencies of government. Everyone involved is already assisting government investigations.”
“However, the attempt by the APC to politicize such isolated issue is unacceptable. Their mischief and finger-pointing only reflect a desperate bid for attention by a crumbling opposition. diverting focus from the real issue at hand is suspicious on its own!”
“It’s imperative that members of the public see through this political charade and stand united in demanding thorough answers to begging questions at this time beyond the apprehension of suspected saboteurs. The well-being of the citizens, especially the vulnerable, should remain our collective priority above all political agenda calculations,” he emphasized.
