In a major relief initiative for bereaved families, Governor Ademola Adeleke of Osun State has approved the payment of terminal benefits to the families of deceased pensioners who were primary school teachers and local government staff in the state.
The announcement was made by Mr. Akibu Ibrahim, Permanent Secretary of the Local Government Staff Pension Bureau, in a statement released in Osogbo on Wednesday. He urged relatives of the deceased to visit the bureau’s office to verify their eligibility and complete the necessary documentation for payment.
Governor Adeleke’s administration continues to prioritize the welfare of Osun State citizens, with a focus on clearing inherited debts, including the backlog of salaries and pensions owed to retirees. The governor has consistently pledged to improve the lives of both active and retired workers in the state.
“This is to inform the general public that the Governor of Osun State, Sen. Ademola Adeleke, has approved the sum of five hundred and sixty-eight million, two hundred and eighty-eight thousand, nine hundred and twenty-five naira, eighty-two kobo (₦568,288,925.82) to be disbursed to the families of 602 deceased retirees who served as local government staff and primary school teachers under the old pension scheme,” part of the statement read.
