Barely hours after Governor Ademola Adeleke led top government officials on a condolence visit to Akinlalu town in Ife North Local Government Area, the All Progressives Congress (APC) Gubernatorial candidate, Bola Oyebamiji, popularly known as AMUBO, made an unexpected visit to the community.
However, the visit took a controversial turn as Akinlalu youths openly rejected what they described as a “political campaign in disguise.” According to eyewitnesses, rather than commiserating with the victims and families of those who lost their lives in the recent tragic security incident, AMUBO reportedly used the occasion to campaign and make promises, including the construction of a police station — a project Governor Adeleke had already pledged during his official visit earlier in the day.
The youths, visibly angered by what they perceived as political insensitivity, expressed disappointment that AMUBO failed to show empathy or acknowledge the grief of the community before delving into campaign rhetoric. They accused him of exploiting a moment of mourning for political gain, insisting that the people of Akinlalu deserve compassion and justice, not politics.
Community members reiterated their appreciation for Governor Adeleke’s prompt intervention, noting that his visit brought hope and assurance of justice for the victims. They called on politicians to respect the sanctity of human lives and allow the healing process to take precedence over political ambitions.
