The Kogi State chapter of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has suspended former Senator Dino Melaye from the party, citing anti-party activities and misconduct.
The suspension was announced by the Ward executive committee in Ayetoro Gbede, Ward 1, after Melaye failed to respond to a summons.
In a resolution signed by Ward Chairman Abayomi Osamika and Secretary Ward Yodson Dayo, the committee stated that Melaye’s conduct had embarrassed and discredited the party, making his continued membership untenable.
The suspension, effective immediately, was made in accordance with Article 59 (1) of the PDP constitution, which grants Ward executive committees the power to take disciplinary action against erring members.
The resolution reads: “Senator Dino Melaye’s conduct has brought embarrassment and disrepute to the party and his continued membership is no longer tenable.
“Therefore, the Ward party exco hereby suspends Dino Melaye from the Peoples Democratic party, effective and immediately.
“The suspension is in line with provisions of Article 59 (1) of the PDP constitution which empowers the Ward party excos to take disciplinary actions against erring members.”
