Adeleke Has No Formidable Opponent in the Osun Gubernatorial Election

The All Progressives Congress (APC), the major opposition party in Osun State, has presented Muniru Bola Oyebamiji as its governorship candidate to challenge Governor Ademola Adeleke in the forthcoming election. Having carefully reviewed this development, it is safe to submit boldly and without equivocation that Governor Ademola Adeleke currently has no formidable opponent in Osun State.

In recent days, comments from certain political actors have surfaced in the public space, exposing a deeply troubling mindset. To some of these actors, politics is not about service, it is an escape route for the lazy, the entitled, and the disconnected. Such views reveal a profound disrespect for the people of Osun State and a fundamental misunderstanding of democratic governance.

How does anyone openly argue that the will of the people should be ignored? How does one enter an election relying solely on a so called “federal might”? Such thinking is not only ridiculous; it is shameful. Society has long outgrown these tendencies, and history has repeatedly shown that this approach does not work in Osun State.

Only a truly formidable, people oriented candidate can challenge Governor Ademola Adeleke at the polls. Governor Adeleke has governed beyond expectations, earning public trust not through propaganda, but through visible leadership and genuine engagement with the grassroots. His popularity is organic, massive, and deeply rooted. A leader of this stature cannot be challenged by elite scheming because Osun is not that kind of state. The people are politically enlightened, determined, and fiercely protective of their mandate.

There are defining moments in the life of a state when politics transcends party platforms and becomes a movement of destiny. Such moments are rare. They are driven not by money or coercion, but by the collective will of ordinary citizens. Governor Ademola Adeleke’s political journey exists firmly within that space.

This is why Governor Adeleke’s embrace of the Accord Party enjoys the full support of the people. Accord is simply the new vessel carrying an enduring and sacred mandate freely given by the great people of Osun State.
