Nigeria’s Minister of Budget, Sen. Abubakar Bagudu has reiterated the commitment of the Federal Government to building a virile economy that will help Nigerians thrive no matter what they do.
He said the Federal Government under Bola Tinubu is committed to building a strong, stable and sustainable economy, predicated on sound economic policies needed to move the nation to the next level.
Sen Bagudu made this known while speaking at the end of the 3-day Joint Planning Board (JPB) and National Council on Development Planning (NCDP) meetings held in Osogbo, Osun State.
He stated that as Nigerians face the challenges of the fuel subsidy removal and its accompanying effects, government has engaged in interventions and steps to stop the economic drift and reverse the impending collapse of the financial system.
The Minister added that the government is putting in place a comprehensive Medium Term Plan, whereby a cutting-edge measure aimed at rescuing and repositioning the nation’s economy will be adopted.
Earlier in his address, the Governor of Osun State, Senator Ademola Adeleke emphasized on the need for fiscal discipline as a bedrock for achieving fiscal sustainability.
Governor Adeleke maintained that Federal Government needd to set up a regulatory and monitoring mechanism to drive development in all States in Nigeria.
The Governor while appreciating the Federal Ministry of Budget for giving the hosting right of the meetins to Osun State insisted that any financial request for support from any state should be conditional and under certain established parameters.
