Governor Ademola Adeleke has expressed satisfaction with ongoing reforms in the state’s sport sector which is being driven by the Deputy Governor, Prince Kola Adewusi who also doubles as the commissioner for Sport development in the state.
In a statement issued by his Spokesperson, Mallam Olawale Rasheed, on Sunday, the State Governor described recent reports of rift and crisis in the sector as misinformation and fake news as he reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to implementing ongoing reforms to develop all major games and create sustainable Sport management institutions for the state.
According to Mr Governor, all necessary approvals are regularly given in pursuance of the agreed goals in the state sport agenda even as he agreed that resistance to change may account for recent false publications about the sector.
The Governor said there is no going back on plan to set up the Osun State Sport Commission for holistic development of the various games and talent identification and development, assuring that best practices are being applied in the reform process.
“I want to assure the public that there is no crisis in Osun sport administration. Hard reforms are ongoing. Our goal is to deploy sports as both business and engagement tools to attend to the aspirations of our talented youths.
“Sport lovers should support our government as we pursue difficult reforms to reposition the sector. We need cooperation, not a campaign of disinformation, to achieve our common goal of putting Osun on the world map of sport excellence”, the Governor was quoted as saying.
