Omoluabi Progressives Condemn Ogun State Police Blockade of ADC Campaign, says It is a National Disgrace

The Omoluabi Progressives under the leadership of Alhaji Issa Adesiji Azeez strongly condemn the shameful and undemocratic action taken yesterday by the Ogun State–backed Nigeria Police in denying the African Democratic Congress (ADC) entrance into Ogun State. This blatant obstruction, coming just days before the Remo North Federal Constituency bye-election, is nothing short of a political disgrace but also a blatant attempt to frustrate our participation in the democratic process ahead of Saturday’s bye-election for the Remo North Federal Constituency.

This was contained in a statement signed by Abosede Busayo Oluwaseun, Organizing and Publicity Secretary for Omoluabi Progressives.

According to the statement, The facts are undeniably clear and verifiable: the Nigeria Police, acting in gross disregard for the democratic process, denied the ADC campaign team entrance into Ogun State—despite our official notification letter to the Police, a document we have already shown to the public. This unlawful blockade prevented us from engaging with the good people of Remo North in preparation for the election.

“Such an act is a glaring example of the political intolerance that has become the trademark of the government in power. It is a stark warning of the tough days ahead, where oppressive forces will attempt to subvert the will of the people through lies, intimidation, and the misuse of state institutions.

“Let it be known: the will of the people is stronger than the oppressive acts of a few rogues in power. The ADC will not be silenced, distracted, or intimidated. Our movement is rooted in truth, justice, and the vision of a better Nigeria—and no amount of falsehood will derail our mission.

“We call on all Nigerians, especially the people of Remo North, to see through these desperate lies and stand firm in defence of democracy. ADC shall overcome, and together we will bring a brighter future to our nation.

“We urge the Nigeria Police Force to remember its constitutional duty as a neutral law enforcement agency. If the Police wishes to act as a partisan player in Nigeria’s politics, it should first register itself as a political party and test its popularity at the polls, instead of hiding under the cover of law enforcement to serve the ruling party’s agenda.”
