For two consecutive years non stop, Osun State Ministry of Health has emerged the best throughout Nigeria in the effective handling of malaria elimination programs, specifically in the management of malaria commodities provided by the Global Fund.
The Permanent Secretary,Ministry of Health, Dr Isiaka Adekunle disclosed this cheering news during the recently concluded 2023 Malaria Commodities Logistics Management System (MCLS) Annual National Workshop.
The workshop, organized by the National Malaria Elimination Program (NMEP), took place in Nasarawa State and it held under the purview of the Federal Ministry of Health.
Represented by Dr. Olufemi Oroge, the Program Manager of Osun State Malaria Elimination Program,Dr Adekunle highlighted malaria as a prominent public health concerns in Nigeria.
He stressed that malaria is both preventable and treatable as long as concerted efforts are directed at ensuring the availability of malaria commodities for prevention and treatment.
He similarly underscored the value of ensuring the efficient delivery of the commodities,an area which he said has made Osun State Ministry of Health to be able to excell over its counterparts in Nigeria for two consecutive years.
He, alongside Pharmacist Yetunde Ojewoye, represented Osun state government in receiving the accolades.
