  • Hosts Federal Ministry of Aviation Officials

Osun State Governor, Senator Ademola Adeleke on Wednesday, revealed the plan on his administration to set up Osun Aviation Company as the vehicle for the Osun Airport project and other associated businesses, ‘Osun Airline’.

The Governor made this known during a visit by officials of Federal Ministry of Aviation at the Governor’s office in Osogbo.

In his address, Governor Adeleke restated the commitment of Osun government to start and complete the airport project.

“I spoke with the Honourable Minister of Aviation some weeks ago. We both agree to collaborate to ensure the Osun project is successfully accomplished.

“Your visit will give us strong guidance and assist us to comply with regulations and rules governing the making of airports. The state’s standing committee on the airport project will provide all necessary details you may need for your regulatory assignment.

“I must however restate the commitment of our government to start and complete the airport project. Osun is the only state without a functioning airport in the South West Region. We are determined to change the narrative. Osun must have a befitting, private sector driven across and commercial airport.

“It is to that end that I seek the cooperation and support of the Aviation ministry to make our dream a reality.

“On our own side, we are adopting global best practices to drive this project. There are great business models to adopt and adapt. We plan to set up Osun Aviation Company as the vehicle for the airport project and other associated businesses that will ensue.

“We are as ambitious as to have Osun Airline with strong private sector equity participation. We want to deepen our GDP by diversifying our economic base. Our agenda is to deploy the best strategies so that Osun state can reap the best benefit from the emerging aviation hub.

“I task our airport committee to fast track the work on the mandate of the Committee. I have received the preliminary report of the Committee at the Executive Council meeting but I still insist on a more speedy approach to the project.

While speaking earlier; Minister of Aviation Festus Keyamo who was represented by Engr Bello disclosed that the purpose of the visit is to inspect sites in Osun state for Osun airport development .

“We are from the Federal Ministry of Aviation and from the Minister of Aviation, Professor Keyamo. Basically, we are here to inspect the site for the Osun State Osun Air Force development.

“We are aware of the land allocated and we have included it in our project for this year. We wrote the Governor and he responded immediately.

“Our Contractor has been contacted and the pay is out”, he said.
