Osun state Governor, Senator Ademola Adeleke has pledged to always encourage and support private investments, entrepreneurs, and young business owners in the state.

The governor made the pledge on Tuesday at the grand opening ceremony and commissioning of the newly built Bass 99.3fm at the station’s premises in Aganga Ota Efun, Osogbo.

While speaking, Adeleke rejoiced with the CEO stating that radio remains a powerful tool that connects communities, gives voice, and strengthens democracy.

The Governor continued by assuring all business owners and entrepreneurs in the state that the state government will continue to encourage and support private investments.

He said, “Radio remains a powerful tool as it connects communities. It gives voice to the people, shapes opinions and strengthens democracy. With Bass 99.3 FM, our State now has another channel to entertain, inform, enlighten and empower.

“I commend Mr Oluwaseun Ekundayo Salawu, the CEO, for this initiative. I also commend all the partners and stakeholders who supported him. What you have done here goes beyond business. It is service to community and contribution to development.

“As a government, we will continue to encourage and support private investments like this. As I have always emphasised, our State is open for business. We are ready to work with entrepreneurs who share the vision of progress and prosperity for Osun.”

In his speech, CEO, BASS 99.3FM, Mr Oluwaseun Ekundayo Salawudeen, popularly known as DJ Bassman, recounted how his love for music began, and how previous administration has impacted his journey so far.

He, however, disclosed that the motto of his radio station remains entertainment with humanity, noting that through music, art and talent, the station is committed to fostering peace in the communities, and building humane society.

His words, “My love for music began very early in life, during my apprenticeship at a radio repair workshop on London Street, off Obalufon Street, in Ile-Ife.

“As many would recall, radio repair shops often had speakers connected, constantly playing music. That was where the spark was lit. Later, while studying Mass Communication at Osun State Polytechnic, Iree, I caught the vision of music as entrepreneurship. From campus entertainment branding to disc jockeying at events, I gradually rose to become known as Osun’s number one DJ. To God be the glory.

“Along the way, I had the honour of serving as the Official DJ to Ogbeni Rauf Aregbesola during his tenure as Governor. That role inspired me to pursue the necessary approvals for a radio station through the National Broadcasting Commission (NBC).

“Today, by God’s grace, we are gathered on this virgin land, now developed into a functional radio station, with great potential to grow into a global brand. Indeed, the journey has not been easy. Mary times, I considered giving up, but God bless our kind ‘Imole Osun’, Asiwaju Senator (Dr) Ademola Nurudeen Adeleke, whose great encouragement and supports gave me the strength to complete this vision. Your Excellency, I say a heartfelt thank you, Sir.

“Bass 99.3 FM carries a motto that speaks of entertainment with humanity. Through music, art and talent, we are committed to fostering peace in our communities, healing in individuals and building a more humane society. With a team of budding stars and experienced professionals, our signals will spread joy and inspiration wherever they are are”, he concluded.
