Governor Ademola Adeleke of Osun state on Tuesday received award of excellence for his outstanding support to Osun pilgrims in the just concluded 2024 Hajj.
The award was presented by the Commissioner for Home Affairs, Alhaji Aderibigbe Rasheed, during the visitation by the board of Hajj Pilgrimage at the Government House in Osogbo,the Osun state capital.
In his address, the Governor appreciated the Muslims pilgrims for representing Osun state very well in Mecca, while urging them to continue praying for Osun state.
“I’m so happy for the safe journey, you went to Hajj and returned home safely, and I believe in every prayer you prayed for myself and Osun state. I can see the results of all your prayers
“One of my mission and agenda when I was elected is that I want to take good care of my people not that I want to steal money, by this time in October and November you will not recognize Osogbo anymore.
“Just keep praying for this administration and we will keep doing what we’re supposed to do.
“We are happy because we’re here to perform because other governor’s has tagged me as “Mr Performer” and I’ve turned Osun state to construction site. So I will urge you to continue with your prayers because I’m feeling, our opposition will get getting confused.
“Thank you for representing us very well in Mecca,” the Governor stated.
Earlier while speaking, the Commissioner for Home Affairs, Hon. Aderibigbe Rasheed commended the state government for the huge and special support, the pilgrims enjoyed in their Hajj journey.
In his words, “We are here today to thank you, to appreciate you for what you did for the board, your support and also about people that went to Mecca this year, we were able to give them best accommodation, good food, in terms of quality and quantity and that’s why the Saudi Arabia said, you must be awarded.
“You also subsidize many things, you helped us with money, apart from that, the Governor gave us money for our pilgrims.
“And because of your good deeds Excellency, they deemed fit to give you an award, which we collected on your behalf in Saudi Arabia. And we also appreciate the SSG and Chief of Staff, thank you sir.
“Going forward,we want you to do certain things for us, when we’re going to Hajj this year we had a doctor and a nurse with us, we want to plead that when we’re going to Hajj next year, the number of doctor and nurse should increase.
“Next year mecca is the one before the next election, we plead that you sponsor some of Islamic clerics to Mecca next year so they will go there and pray for Osun state and pray for you and 2026 election.
“I am delighted to present what we received in Saudi Arabia to the Governor.” He stated.
