International Day of Rural Women: Rep. Bamidele Salam to Hold ‘Meet, Greet and Gift’ Outreach for 200 Rural Women in Osun

In observance of the International Day of Rural Women, the lawmaker representing Ede North, Ede South, Egbedore and Ejigbo Federal Constituency of Osun State at the National Assembly, Representative Bamidele Salam, is set to embark on a Meet, Greet and Gift Visit to celebrate 200 rural women across his constituency.

The outreach, scheduled to hold between Thursday, October 16 and Monday, October 20, 2025, is designed to honour and empower women working in rural clusters who play vital roles in local production and household sustenance.

Rep. Salam noted that the initiative aims to recognise the resilience, creativity, and economic contributions of rural women who produce many of the essential household items found in markets across the state.

He further disclosed plans to share inspiring stories of some of these industrious women, highlighting their dedication, innovations, and the challenges they overcome daily to support their families and communities.

According to him, the Meet, Greet and Gift Visit will provide an opportunity to interact directly with women in different production clusters, listen to their experiences, and identify areas where further support or government intervention could enhance their livelihoods.

Rep. Salam emphasised that empowering rural women remains a key priority of his representation, noting that their contributions are often undervalued despite being central to agricultural productivity, family welfare, and grassroots economic growth.

He also expressed his commitment to using the outreach to promote inclusive development and connect rural producers with relevant agencies and markets that can help scale up their businesses.

The International Day of Rural Women, observed annually on October 15, is dedicated to recognising the critical role and contribution of rural women, including indigenous women, in enhancing agricultural and rural development, improving food security, and eradicating poverty.
