Kano state Governor, Abba Kabir Yusuf has announced the opening of portal for scholarships application for indegenes of the state with First Class Honours Degree.
The Governor said the opening of the portal is in fulfilment of his election plegde while seeking the governorship of the state.
Former Governor Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso started the scholarship but it was stopped by his successors in office.
In a direct message to the people of Kano state, Governor Yusuf urged qualified indegenes to take advantage of the opportunity.
“As promised, we have opened application for Postgraduate Scholarship for Kano State Indigenes with First Class Honours Degree.
“Applications are invited from suitably qualified graduates to undertake postgraduate studies in Nigerian and Foreign Universities for the 2023/2024 Academic Session.

In my inaugural address, I declared that in line with our promise; The Scholarship Policy for our best graduates to pursue higher degrees locally and overseas is hereby restored.
“In the coming months, additional information will be rolled out, and the screening process will commence.
“Also, the 47 Technical Colleges and 44 Schools of Islamic Studies across all our Local Government Areas that were established by Senator Kwankwaso’s Administration, and which were closed down and abandoned by the previous administration will be reopened to resume admission and commence academic activities”, the Governor affirmed.
