Osun state House of Assembly on Thursday, promised to partner and collaborate with Osun Health Insurance Scheme (O’SHIA) initiative by boosting enrollment into the initiative.
The speaker of the House Of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Adewale Egbedun made the promise during an advocacy visit by O’SHIA management at the Speaker’s office in Osogbo, the state capital.
While speaking, Hon. Egbedun described OHIS initiative as beautiful and wonderful while promising that, the Members of the House are fully ready to partner with them.
” I want appreciate members of O’HIS most especially the Executive Secretary for their beautiful initiative, and also for coming up with this beautiful proposal.
“We, at the House of Assembly are willing to partner with Osun Health Insurance Scheme. He said.
In an interview with newsmen, Member representing Ife Central Constituency, Hon. Abiola Jeremiah Owoyeye commended OHIS management, especially the Executive Secretary for a well thought initiative
In his words, “I commend them for this well thought initiative. As he rightly said during the deliberation, he met the enrollment at 4,000 and now they’ve been able to double the enrollment in the state.
” I want to assure him that we, at the house of assembly under the leadership of Rt Hon. Adewale Egbedun,the speaker, we are ready to partner with them and make sure this scheme becomes one that everybody in Nigeria emulate.
Hon. Awoyeye, however promised to support OHIS with 1.2 million naira by Friday, and also to bring 100 members from his constituency from enrollment.
During an interview with our correspondent, OSHIA Executive Secretary, Dr. Rasaq Akindele emphasized that the purpose of the advocacy visit is to seek support and encourage them to enroll people in their constituency into the insurance scheme.
According to him, “It has alot of multiplier effect, to take care of the health of these people and it will also increase their own popularity as advocate of people’s good health.
“We have started the campaign, sensitisation of people to know the benefits of joining the scheme.
“Because they only pay 12,066 Naira for a person per year, and they are entitled to all form of health care.
If it’s a family, it’s 57,600, and all the whole family will be entitled to the whole health care. He explained
The secretary stressed further by stating that the agency has increased it’s scope to take care of so many ailment unlike before.
“We have try to increase our scope,we have increase our scope to take care of so many ailment.
“We have also increase the tarrif to providers too, so that they can be happy to give good services to our people.
“So we have come here to encourage the House of Assembly members to be part of this. To enroll people in their constituency and contribute to the good health of people in Osun state.”
