The Council of Yoruba Elders (CYE) Worldwide has felicitated the African Newspapers of Nigeria Plc, publishers of the Nigerian Tribune titles on the occasion of its 75th anniversary.
The group, in its congratulatory message signed by its Secretary-General, Dr. Victor Taiwo, described the newspaper as a symbol of truth.
It added that the newspaper had been able to uphold the legacy of its founder, Chief Obafemi Awolowo, which is anchored on the truth since its establishment 75 years ago.
“On behalf of the Global Executive Council and General Assembly of the Council of Yoruba Elders Worldwide, I hereby write with all sense of responsibility to felicitate you all on the all-round success story of the African Newspapers of Nigeria (otherwise known as Nigerian Tribune, Apamaku) on the glorious occasion of the 75th anniversary.
“It was a great philosopher, namely Oliver Wandel Holmes, who said, “Truth is tough; it will not break like a bubble at a touch. You may kick it about all day like a football, and it will be round and full at evening.
“It is, therefore, no gainsaying the fact that what has sustained the die-less legacy is the foundation of rock and scaffold of iron on which the ideology of truth establishing this edifice was built.
“We all pray that this legacy of that angelic, enigmatic, strange creature called Obafemi Awolowo will never die.
“May the establishment continue to grow from glory to glory till eternity.”
